Offering Education for a Career in Colon Hydrotherapy

The Bekki Medsker School of Colon Hydrotherapy offers the most professional training program available to the individual seeking a career in Colon Hydrotherapy.  This course outline provides the information you need to make decisions about Colon Hydrotherapy as a career and whether or not this is the best course of study for you.  You can expect a more advanced level of educational and practical (hands on) experience in the art, philosophy, and science of colon hydrotherapy. Our curriculum format is designed to prepare you to pass the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy (I-ACT) certification tests and the National Board for Colon Hydrotherapy exam.  We offer instruction on both the closed and open colon hydrotherapy systems.

 Instructor’s Background

Bekki Medsker has doctorate degrees in Naturopathy and Chiropathy.  She is an

I-ACT/NBCHT Certified Colon Hydrotherapy Instructor and has a school recognized by I-ACT for colon hydrotherapy training.  In her own practice, she specializes in bowel retraining of paraplegics, quadriplegics and victims of post trauma syndrome.

Dr. Bekki started studying natural health when she was sixteen years old.  Her best friend’s mother introduced her to a book titled Back to Eden by Jethro Kloss.  That was the beginning of her quest to learn more about natural health.  She has attended many universities and schools and has received a Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Herbal Studies and a Doctor of Naturopathy degree from Clayton College of Natural Health in Birmingham, Alabama. She also attended the Romano Byzantine College in Fairfax, Virginia and received a Doctorate in Chiropathy.  She continues her own education by attending a variety of seminars on natural health care alternatives on a regular basis.  She is married to Dennis Medsker who is not only her life partner, but also her business partner.  Dr. Dennis Medsker is a chiropractor and practices holistic health care in their clinic near Florence, South Carolina. He specializes in trauma, spinal cord injuries and spontaneous healing.

Not only are both Medskers practicing professional health care providers but they are also professional educators.  Collectively, they have over 35 years of teaching experience.  They have designed the highest level of colon hydrotherapy instruction available in the market place.  Their course of study sets the standards for the industry.

Dr. Bekki received divine inspiration to bring colon hydrotherapy to South Carolina. After receiving her training from Cathy Shea in 1997, she left the commercial banking industry to become a fulltime colon hydrotherapist.  She continued her studies with Connie Allred at the Internal Environment Institute in Los Angeles, California, followed by Sandra Dugan at the Cayce-Reilly School of Massotherapy in Virginia Beach, Virginia; Jim Girouard at Colon Therapeutics Research in Groves, Texas; and Rocco Bruno at Lifestream Colon Hydrotherapy Institute in Austin, Texas.  In 2001, she felt the need to share her accumulated knowledge with other colon hydrotherapists and was invited to become a faculty member at the International School of Colon Hydrotherapy.

The Bekki Medsker School opened in 2003, and has expanded its student base every year since.

Curriculum Design

A career in colon hydrotherapy requires an investment of time and money.  It makes sense to get the best value for the time and money spent. A well designed curriculum is the foundation of a quality education.  Dr. Bekki’s curriculum is very unique and specifically designed for accelerated learning.  Students will be introduced to advanced learning techniques which are presented in an easy-to-learn format.

The Bekki Medsker School has created a logical step-by-step learning format that provides a road map for each student to follow in their quest for knowledge.  Dr. Bekki’s  unique talent as an instructor allows the student to learn with a depth of understanding not available anywhere else.

Cost vs Value

A wise man once said: “If you think education is expensive, try a little ignorance.”  It is never wise to pay too much for anything; but it is shortsighted to buy less than what you need.  If you are seeking the highest quality training available along with small class size, the Bekki Medsker School has both.  You will leave with the knowledge and confidence you need to start your own practice and provide top quality service.

Getting Started in Colon Hydrotherapy

Congratulations on taking your first step into a rich and rewarding career!  We are excited about your interest in our school and look forward to helping you achieve your dream.  You will be joining a group of men and women who are educating themselves and others to achieve better health.  The following is a checklist to help you prepare for your enrollment and class.

1.    We highly recommend that the student receive a minimum of three (3) colon hydrotherapy treatments prior to attending class.  This gives you an introduction to colon hydrotherapy and the service you will be performing.

2.    We recommend that all individuals considering a career in colon hydrotherapy read and complete the exercises in Business Mastery by Cherie Sohnen-Moe, ISBN 0962126543.  This book will prepare you to open your own office or go into business with other healthcare practitioners.  The students who have read this book have reported that it prepared them and answered questions that would have come up.  You may order this book through the school or on the internet.  This book is included in your foundation level curriculum prestudy.

3.    Check to see if there are any other rules or regulations concerning colon hydrotherapy, colonic irrigation, colonics or any term used to refer to colon hydrotherapy in your state, county or city. An internet search may provide the information you are seeking, but you may choose to hire an attorney to do this search for you.  Some of the questions you need to get answered are:

· Do you need to be a licensed health care professional to practice colon hydrotherapy in your state or city?

· Do your clients need to get prescriptions for your services or do you need a medical director to supervise you performing colon hydrotherapy in your state?

3.    When choosing an office check the zoning regulations, subdivision covenants and restrictions concerning the type of business you are going to open and operate.

4.    Does the office space you are looking at have a designated bathroom for the colon hydrotherapy room.  Do any of the walls have access to plumbing?  Is the office space on a cement slab, does it have a crawl space or is it on a second floor?  How easy or difficult will it be to plumb the equipment in this space? Would you be able to vent an open system?

5.    Research the type of equipment you are going to purchase.  Do you want a closed system, or an open system?  Will it be a FDA Class I or a FDA Class II type device?  Will you need a prescription to purchase the equipment you want?  If you can write prescriptions or write orders for therapy equipment is it within your scope of practice?

6.    Enroll, in a CPR certification program.  This is usually accomplished by attending a class in the evening or on a Saturday.  Check with your local American Red Cross or the American Heart Association for schedules. There are also some online courses available.

7.    As you work on your study materials at home you may want to invest in a good Medical Dictionary.  These may be found in used bookstores, but most Barnes & Nobles or Books-A-Million carry them in stock.  The Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology by Donald C. Rizzo (ISBN 1401871887) is the book used in the online anatomy and physiology course and can be purchased online at www.amazon.com.

8.    Enroll, complete and pass a post secondary anatomy and physiology course.  This may be taken through a local college or university.  We also offer an online A & P course that can be taken in the convenience of your home.
